Nature is all the animals, plants, and other things in the world that are not made by people, and all the events and processes that are not caused by people. The most amazing thing about nature is its infinite variety.
Our forests, rivers, oceans, and soils provide us with the food we eat, the air we breathe, and the water we irrigate our crops with. We also rely on them for numerous other goods and services we depend on for our health, happiness, and prosperity. These natural assets are often called the world's 'natural capital'.
Nature can refer to the general realm of living plants and animals, and in some cases to the processes associated with inanimate objects—the way that particular types of things exist and change of their own accord, such as the weather and geology of the Earth.
Nature provides us with water, clean air and food, and raw materials for medicines, industry, and buildings. Our crops rely on insect pollination and the complex biological processes that create soil. Enjoying parks, landscapes, and wildlife improves our health and well-being.
"Nature" refers to the phenomena of the physical world and life in general. It ranges in scale from the subatomic to the cosmic. The term "nature" may refer to living plants and animals, geological processes, weather, and physics, such as matter and energy.
Why Is It Important To Introduce Children To Nature?
The outdoors can be our first teacher, our first discovery, and our first love. Today, we are going to be talking about the importance of introducing children to nature and all of its many benefits!
Hello adventurers, and welcome back to the Coastal Expeditions blog! Today we will be discussing our youngest adventurers, and how introducing children at a young age to the great outdoors can be beneficial and important. There is nothing like growing up in the Lowcountry or your first trip to the beach. You might not remember putting that first fistful of sand in your mouth, your first bad sunburn, or your first accidental gulp of salt water.
What you will remember is the sand between your toes, the smell of salt air, finding your first shark tooth, and seeing a crab up close or a dolphin jumping out of the waves. You’ll remember the giant trees of the Francis Marion Natural Forrest, the reflections of the setting sun on Shem Creek, and the surf gently kissing your ankles at the end of a long hot day on Folly Beach.
The outdoors can teach us so much firsthand, create incredible memories, and offer each of us so many health benefits. This is why it is so important to introduce children to nature at a young age.
We are so passionate about this idea at Coastal Expeditions that we offer many educational opportunities and tours for children. These include the Kid’s Bulls Island Adventure, Young Naturalists Camp at Shem Creek, Young Naturalist Camp at Kiawah River, the After School Kayaking Program, Kid’s Fossil Adventure, and the Tidal Creek Camp!
There is nothing like experiencing your education outdoors. Where better to do so than right outside your back door? We’ve all been at home this past year more than ever, learning and taking classes on our computers and smart devices.
