30 Jan 2023: The nominations/recommendations for Padma Awards will be received online only on the Rashtriya Puruskar Portal (https://awards.gov.in ). The Padma Awards, namely, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri, are amongst the highest civilian awards in the country.

'Padma Vibhushan' is awarded for exceptional and distinguished service; 'Padma Bhushan' for distinguished service of high order and 'Padma Shri' for distinguished service in any field. The awards are announced on the occasion of Republic Day every year.

The only caveat for the award is that Government servants - including those working with PSUs - except doctors and scientists, are ineligible. Nominations are open to the public and a self-nomination is entirely acceptable, as long as award criteria are met.

The awardees are given a medallion and a Sanad signed by the President of India. The recipient is also given a small duplication of the medallion, which they can wear in the course of any ceremonial and State functions etc. The names of the Padma award recipient are published in the Gazette of India.

These awards are conferred by the President of India at ceremonial functions which are held at Rashtrapati Bhawan usually around March/April every year. Two meetings of the Search Committee for Padma Award 2015 constituted by the State Government were held on 27.8.
