3 Militants were killed in a brief shootout near the Rambagh bridge on Lal Chowk-Airport road. One of the three militants killed in the encounter has been identified as Mehran Shalla, a top commander of The Resistance Front (TRF), DGP Dilbagh Singh said.

The area responsibility DGP further said that Mehran was involved in the killing of two teachers Supinder Kaur and Deepak Chand, and other civilians in Srinagar.

The second militant has been identified as Manzoor Ahmed Mir. The identity of the third militant is being ascertained.

On November 17, five militants, including a commander of the TRF, were killed during an encounter with security forces in Pombay and Gopalpora villages of the Kulgam district.

While three militants were killed in Pombay, two were killed in Gopalpura. ALSO READ:

Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Gopalpora area, following inputs about the presence of militants, PTI reported. After the militants fired upon a party of security forces, they retaliated. In the ensuing encounter, two militants were killed.
