An earthquake today India now measuring 5.30 near Village Tikrikila, Lakhimpur in Assam on Wednesday only 10 km Depth. 

 

An earthquake today morning in Assam measuring 5.30 on the Richter scale occurred at Lakhimpur on Wednesday. According to the Our Earthquake Alerts Scale, the earthquake today hit Assam's Lakhimpur main center around on Jul 07, 2021, 08:45:24am. The earthquake today is hit 10.00km depth and distance 244 km, location 25.960°N, 90.314°E of Assam (Lakhimpur District).

People in the districts of Lower Assam, including Guwahati, and Meghalaya ran out of their homes in panic. The tremors were also felt in northern districts of West Bengal, including Alipurduar and Jalpaiguri.

Parts of Bangladesh, including Dhaka, Gaibandha, Bogura, and Rajshahi, also felt the jolt, local media reported.

There was no immediate report of any injury to anyone or damage to any property, officials said.

Northeastern India falls in the high seismic zone, making earthquakes frequently hit the region.
