1 Apr 2021: Assam Assembly Election 2021 LATEST Updates, Assam records 63.04 % turnout till 3.30 pm.
As per latest figures from the EC's voter turnout app, Assam has recorded 63.04 percent turnout till 3.30 pm across 39 Assembly constituencies where polling is underway in phase II of the elections.
Voting began in 39 out of 126 Assembly constituencies on Thursday, with the electoral fate of 345 candidates, including 26 women aspirants, to be decided. Among those who cast their votes were Badruddin Ajmal of AIUDF, which is contesting the polls in alliance with the Congress.
The second phase of polling for the election is more like a mini Assembly poll in itself as it covers 39 seats across six different regions of the state. The six regions voting on Thursday makes phase 2 the most complex of all the phases of polling and includes every sub-region within Assam with the exception of Upper and North Assam, which already voted in the first phase on 27 March.
